CE#4: No more Dictionaries?

Image
In an article by Matthew Hutson, titled " Artificial intelligence goes bilingual—without a dictionary, Hutson reveals another breakthrough in Artificial Intelligence(AI) technology. Now, AIs can translate  languages without being taught the language  before hand because the neural   networks  withing the system  learns from experience , just like humans do. That doesn't mean that the AI can fully function  without supervision, but that may not necessarily true in the coming years or months. This is because two new systems have been created focusing on unsupervised machine learning. The UPV system compares two papers in different languages has two steps in learning how to translate: back translation  and denoising. Back translation is when a sentence in one language is roughly translated into another and then translated back to the original language, and  denoising , which is similar, translates a sentence then rearranges or removes words and translate the sentence back. lab13: Every CSS Tag

Image
This lab was structured differently from the rest of the lbs because while other labs had a clear procedure or instructions to follow, this lab was open to mainly anything. The only rule governing our actions was that we must include most of the CSS tags that are available at w3schools. This meant that we had to create a new HTML and external CSS file, but the content of the HTML file was not important or even relevant. This was out of the normal, but was one of the more enjoyable labs to do because were free to do anything we wanted. It was a great opportunity to learn the more complex CSS tags which we didn't learn in class.  In all honesty, the only things needed to do this lab is Dreamweaver and W3Schools, the rest is up to you. To learn and understand the more complex CSS tags without guidance is quite difficult, so even though this was one of the more enjoyable labs, it was also one of the most difficult. I had to learn very complex CSS tags that took a lot of time and detai

The Race for Quantum Computing

Image
In a recent article, published yesterday, the concept of quantum computer was introduced-as something that could be possible for households to have in the near future. This is because Japan has created a prototype quantum computing system, Nippon Telegraph and Telephone(NTT). NTT will be available for public use starting November 27. This innovation is particularly interesting because quantum computers can solve problems in minutes what regular computers wouldn't be able to solve in decades. Quantum computers offers faster service while reducing the amount of energy consumed. As a result, artificial intelligence is even closer to becoming reality. Now, other countries and companies such as the U.S. and Google have begun their own quantum research in order to not fall behind Japan. Although, quantum computers has been created, further development is required until it is a reliable service. Picture of NTT This is yet another technological innovation that is something to look fo

Lab#12- Diving Further into CSS

Image
Lab 12 was a continuation of the previous two labs just going one step further. This lab required that we include classes and IDs to the CSS format in order to make it more organized and coherent. Adding either a class of ID makes it so a CSS attribute can be made on the tags which have the same class or ID; therefore, you don't have to repeat the same attribute/property multiple times to encompass more than one tag. To add a class or ID all that is needed is to add it into any tag that is desired. An example of this could be <body class="text">. Now to add a class or ID to the CSS document instead of just putting the name of the tag you would put the class or id name. However, for id there must be a # before the id name and for class there must be a period. This mainly serves to differentiate the two. Another difference is that an id can only be used for one tag while a class can be used for multiple tags. Since the class and id names have to be exactly the same e

CE#2- AI on our Phones

Image
In a article published this past Tuesday, Matthew Grant discussed the development of  Artificial Intelligence(AI) being made at the University of Waterloo.  The researchers in charge of this project made it so a new deep-learning AI software is compressed enough to fit on a mobile computer chip or in orders van function on anything from smartphones to robots. Not only is this AI software compact it is also fully functional. This incredible feat was accomplished by mimicking the natural world, in other words, the researchers placed the AI in a virtual environment and kept deriving the resources it had. This made it so the AI would adapt and evolve to the changing environment and eventually compressing it to fit on a mobile computer chip. This was possible because deep-learning AI mimics the human brain; therefore, it will evolve as it is exposed to new stimuli such as the human brain does. Now, the development of this new AI is useful to the public because now deep-learning AI can fit o

Lab#10 and 11

Image
These two labs were the first labs in which it was required to include CSS( Cascading Style Sheet) in the code. CSS is used to decorate and design the webpage; the background color, font family, and other properties can be included in the code to style the webpages. HTML is the basic structure or foundation of a webpage and CSS is more like clothing of the webpage. With this in mind there is a different layout/rules when using CSS. Actually there are multiple ways of using CSS: internal, inline, and external. For lab 10 we used internal and for lab 11 we used external. Lab 10 was overall just taking an html document and adding CSS to different tags using an internal method. To do so we had to add a <style> tag in the heading which is used to differentiate what is CSS from HTML. Within the style tag there must be a selector, in other words there you must select the tag which you want to edit by just putting the name without any brackets. Then there must be a curly bracket {} and

CTE College & Career Fair

Image
Today, instead of having regular class periods, we went up to the gym for a college and career fair. We were even told that it would be best to dress in a business formal manner. The fair itself was quite useful because there were many colleges and people from different organizations. We got to introduce our selves to different colleges and ask question about the college such as the average tuition per semester and the different majors the colleges had. There were also people from the marines, navy, and army that were offering information on their respective fields and programs. I personally was only interested in few of the colleges another organizations that were there; nonetheless, I obtained very useful information on the colleges I am interested in applying to next year. The first college was CUNY and they gave me a free bag which was a huge plus. I am interested in pursuing a degree in biotechnology and it was great that CUNY had a biotechnology major in the school. Next I paye
