CTE College & Career Fair
Today, instead of having regular class periods, we went up to the gym for a college and career fair. We were even told that it would be best to dress in a business formal manner. The fair itself was quite useful because there were many colleges and people from different organizations. We got to introduce our selves to different colleges and ask question about the college such as the average tuition per semester and the different majors the colleges had. There were also people from the marines, navy, and army that were offering information on their respective fields and programs.
I personally was only interested in few of the colleges another organizations that were there; nonetheless, I obtained very useful information on the colleges I am interested in applying to next year. The first college was CUNY and they gave me a free bag which was a huge plus. I am interested in pursuing a degree in biotechnology and it was great that CUNY had a biotechnology major in the school. Next I payed a visit to Hunter College which may not be at the top of my college application, but it is a very respected school. A major highlight of that conversation was when the spokesperson gave me a sheet with the required score on a AP exam in order for the credit to transfer to the college. Another interesting table I went to was the Hall of Science section, but it wasn't related to college. They we there to offer job openings for teenagers who are interested in video production or science in general. Overall, the fair was a great opportunity to obtain connections and information pertaining to our near future.
