The Race for Quantum Computing

In a recent article, published yesterday, the concept of quantum computer was introduced-as something that could be possible for households to have in the near future. This is because Japan has created a prototype quantum computing system, Nippon Telegraph and Telephone(NTT). NTT will be available for public use starting November 27. This innovation is particularly interesting because quantum computers can solve problems in minutes what regular computers wouldn't be able to solve in decades. Quantum computers offers faster service while reducing the amount of energy consumed. As a result, artificial intelligence is even closer to becoming reality. Now, other countries and companies such as the U.S. and Google have begun their own quantum research in order to not fall behind Japan. Although, quantum computers has been created, further development is required until it is a reliable service.

This is yet another technological innovation that is something to look forward to its development. Although I do not know much about quantum mechanics, this is fascinating because of the potential benefits these new computer can hold. Now it will be simpler for me to do work on the computer because my current computer is quite out of date and runs very slowly most of the time. This also means new jobs will open up now that companies are starting to be interesting in this technology; they see it as a good investment, so they would want to put their maximum effort in order to perfect the technology first. That is good news for me because it opens up the career opportunities I have after graduating college. Overall, this innovation benefits me in multiple ways.
